Finger Posts and Town Notice Boards

The town has recently acquired new sign posts (finger posts) and a town layout plan showing a map of the town centre with a directory of businesses and a diary of events. We welcome this addition to the town information services which is also supported by the traders association within the town. The services were provided by the borough council having been requested by the town council.

Development of Crown Wharf

Joules Brewery, which originated in Stone, have purchased Crown Wharf and have put forward a plan to develop a pub, restaurant, heritage centre and performance area. This was arranged through liaison, initially, with Rob Kenney and Jill Hood. Stone Independents are proud of their efforts to bring this key business back to its former home.

HS2 planning railhead on Yarnfield Lane

HS2 HS2 will pass to the west of Stone close to the M6. There are plans under review to build a railhead (construction depot) between Yarnfield and Stone which will lead to the closure of Yarnfield Lane and will cause traffic disruption and noise and light pollution to the residents of Stone and Yarnfield. Stone Idependents oppose the siting of this facility.
