Leisure

Stone Independents support any improvement to leisure facilities around the town. The town is blessed with many assets and opportunities for leisure but these need support and improvement. There are a number of parks and green spaces within the town and others adjacent to such as the Common Plot and Play Plot. Running through the town are the Trent and Mersey Canal and the River Trent, which provide pleasant and peaceful places to walk and also opportunities for other users like canal boats and anglers.

Westbridge Park is now being developed into a destination park and has undergone a number of changes not all of which were supported by Stone Independents. However we do support the ongoing developments such as:

retention of green space for events

improved kiddies' play area

youth play area

multi-use games area

new walks and trails

wild flower meadow

space for organised games and other activities

Stonefield park is a more traditional park with formal flower beds and various activity areas very well maintained by the borough council. Stone Independents support the continuation of this asset.

Crown Meadows are a "hidden" gem, hidden in plain view. They are an environmental asset containing many species of flora and fauna and provide a haven of nature between the river and canal. They are maintained by the town council and Stone Independents support this.
